The midlands meander is a route between Pietermaritzburg and the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg. See if you can find a map of the area at the Engen Garage in Mooi Rvier so that you might plan your time. It will take a week do it all.It is about 80km. the Meander came together when in 1985 artists, potters, weavers, crafters and any kind of arty-farty or technical person developed an Arts and Craft route through the region with Art Galleries, Workshops etc. Today 150 or more individuals call themselves part of the route. The area is beautiful, its green and colorful. The trees, shrubs, veldts, the rolling hills, the forests, the grass. It reminds Badger of pictures he has seen of Scotland plus a few African antelopes in a Nature reserve.

Badger likes coming here. There is so many places to stop by. Nottingham Road, Lions River, Balgowan, Pigly Wigly. Here are many B&Bs, Boutique Hotels, Guest Houses, Guest Farms. restaurants, coffee houses, Bistro’s, a chocolate factory and another Brewery (near Notts!)

At every shops there is something else to buy. Clothes, pots, paintings, books, bath salt, kitchen utensils and many things you can’t think of it. It will blow your mind.
